[02/05 Update 3] Based on testing, it looks like Amazon reopened a new MR offer today for most accounts that had used the $50 off offer before 02/01, though not 100% of them. About half of my accounts were able to enroll. Previously, unless you had not used it before, you could not be targeted. If you still have not been targeted, my guess is that you may need to wait a few more days.

[02/02 Update 2] There are currently two Amazon MR offers: 20% off, up to $50, through 02/15 (offer 1); and $20/$40 off with $50/$100 spend, through 03/31 (offer 2). Based on my testing, it is possible to get both offers at the same time (scenario 2 and scenario 3). Here are a few scenarios:

  • Scenario 1: If you had already used offer 1 before 02/01, then you could not be targeted for offer 2 New many accounts are now being targeted again for offer 2, so go give it a try.
  • Scenario 2: If you enrolled in offer 1 before 02/01 but never used it, then there is a good chance you will also be targeted for offer 2, and you can use them separately. Offer 1 will trigger first, and then a later purchase can trigger offer 2. Several of my smaller accounts worked this way, but YMMV.
  • Scenario 3: If you had not enrolled in offer 1 before 02/01, since it has been extended to 02/15 you can still enroll now. Based on testing, if you had already linked MR shop with points before, you may be targeted for both offers at the same time, and they can also be “stacked,” YMMV. Again, offer 1 will trigger first, and then a later purchase can trigger offer 2.

Also worth noting: the USPS mover discount has long included an Amazon $20 off offer (usable on physical items sold by Amazon), and it can stack with these MR offers. If you are moving, it may be worth registering for it as well.

[02/01 Update] The MR offer has been extended through 02/15. If you want to be targeted, remember to first link an AMEX MR card under Amazon shop with points. You can also try a few smaller accounts. After linking, you may be targeted in about 1 week, and then you can register.

Amazon’s current MR 20% off offer, with a maximum discount of $50, expires today (01/31). If you were not targeted before, check again now—you may have been targeted already.

You only need to use 1 MR point (select $0.01), and pay the rest with your Amazon gift card balance or a credit card. The discount can be used on products that are Sold by Amazon. If you do not have anything specific to buy, buying some third-party gift cards may also be a good option ($250 in gift cards for just $200).

Tip: If you prefer not to put the purchase on an MR card, you can first reload a $200 Amazon gift card using any non-MR credit card; then at checkout select the MR card and pay with 1 point + $199.99 Amazon gift card balance.
