Amazon Default Payment Offer Overview

This promo works by adding an eligible credit card as your default payment method on Amazon (previously called One Click Payment). Then, when you buy something on Amazon and pay with that card, you can get a one-time $10 discount. If you see this ad somewhere, you can add this promo to each of your Amazon accounts and get the $10 discount on each one, assuming you have a card that qualifies for the offer. If you have N Amazon accounts, that’s essentially $10 × N.

As an aside, this offer used to be exploitable infinitely by modifying the code, but after too many people abused it, Amazon tightened it up and made each promo ID usable only once. (Old article)

How to Trigger This Offer

Based on past experience, if you visit the currently available promo links several times and then click back to the Amazon homepage, you may see the promo ad appear.

Also, I found that after clicking this link many times and visiting the blog, the ad started showing up directly. You can also try searching Google for keywords like AMEX Amazon default payment. The basic idea is to make the browser think you’re interested in this offer, and then it may start serving related ads to you.

This method does not guarantee success, but you may still see similar offers in the future, so if one shows up, take advantage of it.

Adding It to Multiple Accounts (Tested and Works)

Keep in mind that if one of your browsers can see this offer, you may be able to keep generating new offers and add them to all of your Amazon accounts, or even someone else’s Amazon accounts. Here are the steps:

  • Suppose I see the offer below.
  • Don’t click the ad link right away. First, log in within the browser to the Amazon account you want to add the offer to. Then click the ad, and once you see the activation screen and complete activation, the offer will be added to that account.
  • After that, log out of the Amazon account and log in to the next Amazon account you want to add the offer to. Then refresh the page where you previously saw the ad, and you should see a new ad. The new ad will have a new promo ID, so don’t click the old ad again, because the previous account has already used it.
  • Repeat to add more offers.
  • Be sure to do it quickly, because after some time the offer may no longer show up in the browser, possibly because it detected that you already added it.

Things to Note

  • The $10 discount you get here can only be used on items sold by Amazon. It does not work on third-party seller items or Amazon gift cards.
  • You can only see the offer when paying with the card set as the default payment method. Switching to another card won’t work, though if you switch back, the offer should still appear.
  • The same card can get this offer on different Amazon accounts.
  • After you get the offer, the $10 discount will expire eventually, but it’s such a small amount that most people will probably use it up quickly.
