This method is better suited for adding offers to AMEX authorized user cards that do not have an online banking account.
This simple method lets you add AMEX Offers directly without logging in to online banking. Since the primary card account (or any account with online access) can use MaxRewards to sync all AMEX Offers with one click, the method in this article is more useful for AMEX authorized user cards that do not have an online banking account.

Background
Before getting into the method, here are a few things to know:
- AMEX authorized user cards can be issued without an SSN, ITIN, or passport, but they are only valid for 60 days. For long-term use, one of those forms of ID must be linked.
- AMEX authorized user cards can have their own separate online account. If the card is linked with a passport, opening online access currently requires a three-way call among the primary cardholder, the authorized user, and AMEX, though some representatives only require both cardholders.
- Having an AMEX online account has many benefits, such as managing payments, viewing AMEX Offers, MR points, and more.
Steps
Now back to the main topic: how do you add an AMEX Offer if the authorized user card does not have online banking set up?
The big prerequisite: you must confirm that the card has been received. You can do this via chat with customer service and verify with a passport. If you do not confirm receipt of the card, AMEX may not send you this email.
The method is very simple. Search your email inbox for an email with a subject like this:
- name (the authorized user’s name), your new AMEX Offers are inside!
In the email, you will see many offers displayed, and each one has an AMEX link at the bottom. Just click any one of them to enter. (AMEX friendly reminder: you need a US IP address here.)
For example, I chose this Amazon bonus offer. The “+” here is a redirect link that contains the card account information. Yes, because this authorized user card did not have an online account, I did not notice this offer during Prime Day.
After you click it, the webpage will log you directly into your online account interface, even if you never registered an online banking account. Then you can add the selected offer or add other offers available on the account:
Usually there are only 20, so just add them all in one go.
Summary
This method is suitable for people who do not want to create an online banking account for an authorized user card, or who are unable to create one. It can also be used for a primary card with an existing online account to activate AMEX Offers without logging in.
Personally, I still recommend creating an online account for the authorized user card, because you may see more offers and get more features, such as participating in Amazon Shop with Points promotions.
