Goupon Deal

If you buy a $60 Costco Gold Star membership through Goupon, you can get a $40 Costco Shop Card plus a $40 OFF online coupon. If you can use both, you come out $20 ahead.

Student Membership Deal

If you purchase a Gold Star membership through UNiDAYS, you get a Google Home mini smart speaker and a $20 Shop Card.

Recommendation

If you're a student, prioritize the student offer.

If you're not a student and don't plan to spend much at Costco, I do not recommend applying directly for the Gold Star Executive membership. If you end up liking Costco, you can consider upgrading in-store later. There are often upgrade promotions, usually bundled with an in-store application for the Citi Costco co-branded card.

Other Notes

  • Once you have a US Costco membership, you can apply for the Citi Costco co-branded card and earn 4% on gas, 3% on dining and travel, plus an extra 2% back from Costco.
  • If you are only staying in the US for a short time, Costco policy allows you to cancel your membership within one year for a full refund. The refund amount would be $60/$120. 【Warning: If you plan to stay in the US long term and like Costco, I do not recommend doing this.】
