According to View From the Wing, Wells Fargo will launch a new Choice Hotel co-branded credit card on May 1. The card was previously issued by Barclays, and existing cardholders will be moved to the new bank. This will be a no-annual-fee credit card. The details are as follows:

  • 5x points on Choice stays
  • 3x points on gas, grocery stores, home improvement stores, and cellphone service
  • 1x on all other purchases
  • Automatic Gold status just for having the card
  • 10 elite nights each year (20 nights qualifies you for Platinum status)
  • Cellphone protection included (all Wells Fargo cards have this)

For a no-annual-fee card, this is decent enough, though the earning rates are relatively weak, especially since Choice points are not very valuable. Still, Choice is a fairly large hotel chain in the US, so if you stay with them often and want elite status, this card could be worth considering.
