If you are a frequent flyer of Virgin America (VX) and have VX Elevate points in your account, JetBlue (B6) recently announced that it will match points from the VX frequent flyer program. The matching chart is as follows:

How to Do It

  • First, take a screenshot of the mileage balance shown on the VX website. The screenshot must include your name and mileage balance. Before 7/4, send it together with your JetBlue TrueBlue frequent flyer number to [email protected]. A sample screenshot is shown below:virgin-screenshot-popover
  • After that, you will receive a confirmation email reply from JetBlue.
  • Once you receive the email, simply book and fly one JetBlue round-trip flight before 8/31, and you will receive the amount of JetBlue points listed in the chart above. Note that the T&C of this promotion require that the JetBlue round-trip flight must be booked only after you receive the confirmation email, so do not book early.

What If You Don’t Have Any VX Miles?

JetBlue points are worth about 1 - 1.4 c/p. If you already have a large VX balance, the matched 75,000 JetBlue points can be worth as much as $1,050, making this a great opportunity you should not miss. If you currently have no VX miles or almost none but need JetBlue points, you can consider transferring SPG points to VX. Assuming you already have at least 1 VX mile, then by transferring 40,000 SPG points to VX, you can get 50,000 VX miles and 75,000 JetBlue points. In addition, MR and TYP can also be transferred to VX, but the ratio is 2:1, so large transfers are not recommended. Will you participate in this promotion?
