Since February, all US visa services in mainland China have been suspended, and a temporary entry ban was also put in place.
Today, according to North America Deal Alerts, US visa appointment booking has started up again. I also went to the visa appointment website to check for myself.
This is the situation at the US Consulate in Shanghai. The earliest appointments available start in May, and at first it seemed there were visa slots only one day per week. The consulates in several other cities appear to be in a similar situation.
The US government has not yet officially lifted the entry ban, so the resumption of appointments could still change. In addition, consulates may process applications less efficiently in the early stages, so if you have a choice, I would suggest not rushing to be among the first to try.
Hopefully life in all respects will return to normal soon.
