Direct Flights Between the U.S. and China to Increase From 8 to 16 Per Week

The latest update is that the DOT has approved direct flights between the U.S. and China to increase from 8 per week to 16 per week.

On the U.S. side, Delta and United each increased from 2 weekly flights to 4 weekly flights.

Chinese carriers have not released detailed plans yet, so maybe this time they won’t miss out.

Delta and United moved quickly; schedules are already published and tickets are already on sale.

SEA-PVG DL287: Tue, Thu

DTW-PVG DL283: Mon, Fri

United:

SFO-PVG UA857: Wed, Fri, Sat, Sun

U.S.-China routes are high-profit routes for airlines this season, fueled by the hard-earned money of people returning to China. So of course, more flights are better, and fares are still 10X compared with before.

Watching DL and UA enjoy the braised-pork feast, I can’t help wondering what AA is thinking and whether this is their fate.
