According to a notice issued by the U.S. Department of Transportation, the United States will impose reciprocal suspensions on 26 flights operated by Chinese carriers in September, as a countermeasure to the earlier suspensions of China-U.S. flights operated by U.S. airlines.
The U.S. Department of Transportation counted a total of 26 additional suspended flights involving U.S. airlines since the last round of reciprocal sanctions, and will now retaliate by concentrating these measures on Chinese carriers in September. Of course, this does not take into account that Chinese carriers themselves, like U.S. airlines, also had some flights suspended during this period because of pandemic-control rules.
The affected flights are:
- Los Angeles-Shenzhen (CA770): suspended on September 6, 13, 20, and 27
- Los Angeles-Tianjin (CA988): suspended on September 18 and 25
- New York-Fuzhou (MU588): suspended on September 7, 12, 14, 19, 21, 26, and 28
- Los Angeles-Guangzhou (CZ328): suspended on September 10, 12, 17, 19, 24, and 26
- Los Angeles-Xiamen (MF830): suspended on September 5, 8, 12, 15, 19, 22, and 26
Because of the unique nature of international flights, these China-bound flights could also affect the corresponding flights to the United States, so travelers should pay close attention to their flight information.
So far, only the September schedule has been announced. Plans for additional suspensions could also change depending on future CAAC policy changes.
