Since March of this year, after Chase stopped issuing the Chase Amtrak Mastercard, we already anticipated that the transfer partnership between UR and Amtrak would eventually end. Now, based on our latest info, as of December 8 of this year, Ultimate Rewards points will no longer be transferable to Amtrak Guest Rewards points.
In fact, Amtrak points still have decent value, often redeemable at over 2 cents per point, so if you have train travel coming up, you may want to transfer and stash some points now.
In addition, while Chase is no longer issuing an Amtrak card, Amtrak recently announced new co-branded cards with BofA: Amtrak Guest Rewards World Mastercard and Amtrak Guest Rewards Platinum Mastercard. These two cards offer sign-up bonuses of 20,000 and 12,000, respectively, and their other benefits look quite good as well.
We welcome readers to reply and share your experiences with Amtrak points.
