We received an email from UA introducing a new option to use miles to offset a credit card’s annual fee. The email also mentioned that miles can now be used to directly pay for UA airfare purchases.
When redeeming miles toward airfare purchases, the value is 1c/p, meaning a $100 ticket would require 10,000 miles. However, the fine print indicates that only UA credit cardholders are eligible for this type of redemption, and only miles earned from the credit card can be used to offset the charge.
