United today announced its requirements for 2025 elite status. The changes are fairly minor, and there are also new ways to use PlusPoints. Full details

  • Elite status can be earned either through a combination of Premier Qualifying Flights (PQF) and Premier Qualifying Points (PQP), or through PQP alone at a higher threshold. To earn Premier status, all members must also fly at least four United-operated flight segments.
  • The qualification requirements for 2025 have increased. Members now need to earn the following PQFs and PQPs:
    • Premier Silver: 15 PQF and 5,000 PQP, or 6,000 PQP
    • Premier Gold: 30 PQF and 10,000 PQP, or 12,000 PQP
    • Premier Platinum: 45 PQF and 15,000 PQP, or 18,000 PQP
    • Premier 1,000®: 60 PQF and 22,000 PQP, or 28,000 PQP
  • United credit cards will become more rewarding. Cardholders will be able to earn more PQPs through spending on their cards. On all eligible cards, every $20 in spending will earn 1 PQP.
  • PlusPoints are becoming more flexible. In addition to upgrades, they can also be converted into PQPs, TravelBank cash, award miles, or gifted Premier status for other MileagePlus members.
