Back in September, the UAE government said it would implement a visa-on-arrival policy for Chinese passports at some point in the future. In a sudden reversal, the UAE changed its position today and directly added China to the list of visa-exempt countries for entry.
Emirates (EK) and Etihad (EY) both offer routes from China to major airports worldwide via the UAE. You can choose to stay a little longer during your layover, have time to shop in the UAE, and also take the chance to travel a bit.
Visa-Free Policy
Since November 1, 2016:
- Any Chinese passport holder can enter the UAE visa-free for up to 30 days;
- No fee is required;
- After paying the applicable fee, you can extend your stay by another 30 days.
Dubai is home to the famous seven-star Burj Al Arab, the Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest building), and an opulent indoor ski resort in the sweltering Middle East. Shopping is also incredibly easy—the biggest shopping malls in the world are in Dubai. Palm Jumeirah is also a great place to spend a few days, with all kinds of entertainment options.
Abu Dhabi’s Yas Marina is home to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Circuit, which hosts the F1 Grand Prix every year; the track also offers driving experiences at various price levels. Nearby, they also built Ferrari World, which features Ferrari-themed roller coasters and other thrill rides.
