Spirit Airlines has finally announced that it has filed for bankruptcy protection. According to reports, the company has reached an agreement with its bondholders and secured $300 million in financing to continue operating, with plans to exit bankruptcy in the first quarter of 2025. Spirit Airlines’ $3.8 billion merger plan with JetBlue was blocked by a U.S. district judge, and that court ruling left Spirit Airlines with almost no other choice but to undergo restructuring and bankruptcy.

Spirit Airlines emphasized that ticket sales and all operations will continue as usual.
