Travel Funds Will Be Extended Due to the Pandemic
【2020.3 Update】Due to the pandemic, Southwest Airlines will extend recently expiring Travel Funds and Travel Funds newly posted in March to June 30, 2021. H/T: Doc
Customers’ funds that have expired or will expire between March 1-May 31, 2020, will now expire June 30, 2021Any newly created travel fund because of a flight cancellation between March
Main policy:
- Travel Funds expiring between March 11 and March 31, 2020 will be extended to June 30, 2021
- Any Travel Fund generated by a Southwest flight canceled in March will be valid until June 30, 2021
The extension will be completed automatically. If the pandemic does not ease, the later ones are expected to be extended as well.
I hope United will follow suit and extend the money people used to put into Travel Bank from AMEX reimbursements as well. There are still a few hundred dollars in KUKU..
Expiration Dates Can Now Be Displayed
【2019.12 Update】Southwest Airlines Travel Funds now show expiration dates
Southwest has always allowed free flight cancellations. If you cancel after 24 hours of booking, the amount can be used as Travel Funds for travel within the next year. Previously, you could not directly see the expiration time. Southwest has now improved this, and according to Doc, it seems that tickets canceled on or after 12/03 can show the expiration date. This improvement greatly increases the convenience of Travel Funds.
