Official registration link: Click here

Requirements:

You must register for the promotion first.

Ticket purchase dates: 9/22/2020-9/24/2020

Travel dates: 9/22/2020-11/15/2020

Award tickets are not included.

The Companion Pass is valid for 2 months: 1/6/2021-2/28/2021

Below are the full terms: About the Southwest Companion Pass

Commonly known as the Companion Pass, here are a few things to keep in mind:

You can change your designated companion up to four times per year, regardless of gender. (My understanding is that even though this promo pass is only valid for 2 months, the terms are the same, so you should still be able to change companions.)

The primary account holder must travel on the same itinerary.

Bookings paid with points/cash/gift cards/vouchers can all be used.

For award tickets, the companion still has to pay the $5.6 each way tax.

It can be used on both domestic and international flights.

A few thoughts

If you already have travel plans within the promotion window, then this is obviously easy—just fly once and you’ll get it.

If you do not have an immediate need, you could choose the cheapest route and fly a round trip. Given the current situation, though, visiting friends is probably not the best idea...

As for the AMEX airline fee credit, Southwest has historically worked, but whether there could be a clawback is anyone’s guess...

Here’s one cheap example I found for reference The round-trip cash price is under $100, and you can also earn 420 mile (there is a small discount when buying round trip together). You would not need to leave the airport or stay at a hotel, which reduces costs and is relatively safer.

For other routes, it depends on what works best for you.

If you want this deal, act fast—there are only two days to buy tickets.
