Hi everyone, I’m Suarez7 (S7), a loyal reader of this site, and this time I’m sharing a fresh look at the newly opened Vancouver SkyTeam Lounge (Skyteam Lounge@YVR)! Flight S3 started from North America, transited through Vancouver (YVR), and continued to Paris on Air France. At the time, I chose the SkyTeam lounge only because it was the closest to gate D53. As they say, if you have no expectations, you can’t be disappointed—the SkyTeam lounge once again exceeded S3’s expectations (the previous one was the new Delta lounge in SEA).

Like the lounge at Capital International Airport, the main space is a second-floor, open loft-style area, with a prominent SkyTeam sign at the elevator entrance.

The host at the elevator warmly greeted every guest and guided us up to the second-floor lounge, introducing each area. S7 learned from the host that this lounge had just opened the day before, which explains the orderly layout and brand-new facilities. Before that, SkyTeam shared a lounge with Air Canada. The lighting was bright and eye-catching.

The bar by the entrance and the seats beside it. S7 was on an early flight, so it was empty when we arrived.

Compared with domestic U.S. lounges (including Centurion), the food here can honestly be called good quality, and lunch even included wonton noodles and snacks. It’s probably because Vancouver has such a large Chinese community.

Can you spot the Tsingtao down below?

Two “partner” aircraft also showed up during lunch: China Southern 788 and China Eastern 332.

The lounge provides two free shower rooms so you can freshen up if you’re worn out from travel.

Even though Delta-led SkyTeam has always been relentless in mileage devaluation, this newly opened Vancouver lounge once again made a strong first impression. If you’re flying in SkyTeam premium cabins (or you have PPS) and pass through YVR, I recommend dropping by. That said, I haven’t seen dedicated Wi-Fi inside the lounge yet. When the lounge is busy, the airport’s shared Wi-Fi is noticeably laggy and not ideal.

Also, during lunch there was a Chinese gentleman across from us on the other side who kept his iPhone on speaker at a loud volume while listening to the news. Nobody asked him to stop, but it must have significantly affected nearby travelers’ experience.
