II. Singapore Changi Airport Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge Review
After briefly catching up with friends and having two meals, I returned to Changi Airport that evening. Hotels in Singapore are not cheap, and since my flight the next day was at a little after 9 a.m., I chose to rest at the airport instead. Below are some photos of the airport. You can really see why Singapore is called the Garden City—even the airport is full of flowers, plants, and trees.
Singapore Airlines business class passengers can access the Singapore Airlines SilverKris Lounge. Since this is Singapore Airlines' home base, the SilverKris Lounge at Changi is very large. Fitting two to three hundred people is no problem at all.
For travelers like me who didn’t want to spend extra money or stay overnight in Singapore, spending the night in the Singapore Airlines lounge is actually a pretty good option if you have access. Singapore Airport itself has dedicated sleeping areas, and those interested can Google them. The airport only provides pillows and simple beds, and quite a few people sleep in chairs. But inside the Singapore Airlines lounge, not only is there a spacious rest area, it also provides thick blankets and pillows, making it convenient for business class passengers to spend the night there. I hadn’t seen this mentioned online before, so consider it a useful little tip. No need to sleep outside the lounge.
After a short nap, you can freshen up with a shower in the SilverKris Lounge. The Singapore Airlines shower rooms are inside the main restroom area. No reservation is needed—just go over and let the staff member in charge know. If there is an available shower room, you can use it right away. The amenities inside are also quite complete.
After washing up, it was time to head to the gate! I also snapped a photo of a jumbo jet while passing by.
