ShopBack Overview

ShopBack is a cashback site that has just rolled out in the U.S. It currently offers solid promos, with stores like Walmart, DoorDash and others paying up to 20% cashback. Plus, after installing their browser extension, each Amazon purchase can earn $1 cashback, which adds up quickly.

ShopBack has been deep in the cashback space for years: founded in Singapore in 2014, then gradually expanded across Asia and Europe, and only entered the U.S. market this year.

Signup and signup bonus

Sign up for ShopBack through our link and get a $15 opening bonus. You need to have earned at least $5 in cashback within 180 days before you can withdraw.

You can see $20 credited right after registering (the $15 path is the same).

New users can also complete various tasks to earn extra cashback. For example, earning cashback at three brands gives an extra $10; using the browser extension for the first time adds an extra $5, and so on.

Some merchants also offer extra threshold-based cashback.

If you shop mostly in other countries or on other-country sites, you can choose another region preference and the cashback stores will switch accordingly. You can mostly see countries and regions in Asia.

Earning cashback

In ShopBack, just search for the merchant where you want to shop. For example, search Walmart, and you can see Walmart’s merchant page, including which items qualify for cashback. Click Shop Now, complete your purchase on Walmart’s site, and that purchase earns cashback. They also clearly list which items qualify and the timeline for cashback posting.

It doesn’t seem like they have click-tracking, at least there’s no query interface visible on the page.

Browser extension

You can also install their Chrome extension for extra cashback.

If your target merchant is in their cashback list, a popup appears automatically to let you know a cashback reward is available, including rate and amount. That’s pretty convenient. Some merchants now also offer shipping cashback, subsidizing up to $2.99 shipping. Just click "Activate" to enable cashback for that merchant.

Cashout

You can request a payout once your account has more than the minimum cashback amount. Currently, only PayPal is supported.

My recent rewards were paid out, and when I tried a payout it was not instant — it took 1-2 days to hit PayPal.

ACH payout is currently “paused” again. In my test, the previous ACH payout was processed as a wire transfer, so I’d advise against using it.
Now the cashback site does support ACH payout, and you can link your bank account directly. ACH usually takes a bit longer than PayPal to arrive. If your cashback is high enough, it can also be used to trigger the direct deposit bank account bonus. Also, too much payment through PayPal or other third-party channels may trigger a 1099-K.

Amazon cashback (slashed heavily)

【2025.7 Update】Many people sign up for ShopBack mainly for Amazon cashback, but they’ve now cut this a lot, so it’s not worth much. Going forward, Amazon cashback is only available for the first five orders each month: $1 for the first order, and the next 4 orders are $0.5 each. In addition, each order must be over $5, and orders that use gift cards or purchase gift cards don’t qualify. Overall, the max is $3 per month. If no other merchant has very high cashback, you can finish your $15 signup bonus and stop there.

Amazon Store terms and conditions: $1 cashback applies to your first-ever purchase via ShopBack. $0.50 cashback for each additional Amazon order, up to 5 cashback rewards per month.

Also, some merchants cannot be claimed through instant shopping cashback like the above and can only be claimed via the browser extension. For example, ShopBack gives an extra $1 cashback on each Amazon purchase.

According to their terms, purchases made with gift cards and gift-card or voucher redemptions do not earn cashback, and neither do taxes or shipping fees. Cashback can still be earned on the card or cash portion of the payment.

You won't get Cashback on:
  • Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
  • Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
  • Any store credit redemption
  • Vouchers or Promo codes not featured on our platform
  • Fees · Taxes · Service charges · Shipping and delivery

Any amounts you pay using Gift Card, Voucher, Promo or store credits will not qualify for Cashback. The balance you pay using card or cash will still be eligible. If the balance is $0, you'll not earn Cashback on the purchase.
