Introduction
Sam's Club currently has a $45 annual membership that returns $45. If you also stack the extra $10 eGift card, the $20 eGift card from a referral, $6.75 from Dosh, and $3.6 from Rakuten, you can end up with one year of free membership plus an extra net gain of $40.35. This applies to new members or former members (new/former).
Sam's Club is Walmart's warehouse-style membership club, similar to Costco. If you’ve never been, this is a good chance to try it and pick up a little extra.
This post is compiled from data points in DOC comments (link) and Reddit (link). Recent DOC comments include mixed results—some users received it, while some did not. Please decide for yourself; YMMV. Disclosure: I already have an active Sam's Club membership (I got it last year using these steps), so I did not participate in this round and cannot confirm whether it will work this time. Steps
- Step 1: Sign up for Dosh: Signup link (new-user signup bonus is now $5). During signup, make sure the referral code is YUNW3. After signing up, search for “Sam's Club” in “offers” and open it to ensure you can see the 15% offer, as shown below. Then in Dosh, add the credit card you’ll use to buy the Sam's Club membership. If you plan to use an AMEX card, we recommend adding it to Dosh and waiting 24 hours before purchasing the Sam's Club membership (Visa/MC has no such requirement). This step yields 45 × 15% = $6.75.
For the next steps, use Chrome on a desktop and remember to disable ad block.
- Step 2: Rakuten offers 8% cashback on a new Sam's Club membership purchase. If you don’t have Rakuten yet, here is the signup link (new-user signup bonus is now $30). Then open your browser, log in to Rakuten, and click here to find the Sam's Club offers in Rakuten. After clicking “shop now,” you’ll be redirected automatically to the Sam's Club site. Then stop—do not complete registration yet, but do not close the page. This step earns 45 × 8% = $3.60.
- Step 3: Open a new page, copy this link into your browser: https://www.samsclub.com/join?pageName=aboutSams&couponId=11618. Under the “Club $45/year” column, select “Select Club” (do not choose the $100 Plus option). Then stop—do not fill out the form, but do not close the page. Completing this step earns a $10 eGift card.
- Step 4: Open a new page, copy this link into your browser: https://fbuy.io/samsclub/ebx2mprr, then select “JOIN NOW.” Then stop—do not fill out the form, but do not close the page. Completing this step earns a $20 eGift card.
- Step 5: Open a new page, copy this link into your browser: https://www.samsclub.com/join/club?couponId=12557, then complete registration. This step earns a $45 eGift card. Image below is from a WeChat group member.
Earnings
Total rewards: Dosh $6.75 + Rakuten $3.60 + $10 eGift Card + $20 eGift Card (referral link) + $45 gift card = $85.35. After paying the $45 membership fee, your net gain is $40.35. Net result: a one-year free Sam's Club membership plus an extra $40.35.
Important Notes
- 1. Dosh cashback should show as pending when the charge posts to your card. If not received within 7 days, contact Dosh and they will resolve it.
- 2. Rakuten cashback usually posts within a few hours.
- 3. The $10 from Step 3 and the $20 from Step 4 usually arrive within 7–10 days. Check your spam folder and search for “Thank you for your Purchase.” If you have not received it within 30 days, contact Sam's member services. Sam's Club gift cards and Walmart gift cards are interchangeable.
- 4. For the $45 in Step 5, go to the Sam's Club store and tell the member service desk to process offer number 980299084.
Membership Cancellation
Sam's Club memberships can be canceled within 1 year for a full $45 refund if you are not satisfied with the service.
