According to Dansdeal, the Chase Ink lineup of business credit cards is temporarily exempt from the 5/24 rule through December 31. Keep in mind that if you’re over 5/24 and still get denied, it doesn’t necessarily mean the denial was because of 5/24. It could also be due to insufficient credit history, or because you’ve already reached the maximum amount of credit Chase is willing to extend to you. You can try calling reconsideration and asking to move some credit limit around.
- That said, based on the comments, there still seem to be plenty of denials, so decide for yourself whether the hard pull is worth it.
The 5/24 rule means Chase generally requires that your credit report show no more than 5 new cards opened in the past 24 months, including cards from other banks, otherwise the application is automatically denied. Recently, Chase’s co-branded hotel cards, airline cards, and Amazon card all seem to be showing some loosening as well, with some approvals reported even for applicants over 5/24. But Chase’s own cards have historically been much more strictly enforced. This temporary relaxation for business cards may be an attempt to boost performance before year-end.
An insider tips us off that 5/24 restrictions have been temporarily relaxed for Ink cards and approvals should remain easier to obtain through 12/31.It appears that this is being bypassed by the system for some over 5/24 applications, but reconsideration reps are not bypassing 5/24 restrictions .
Multiple readers also confirm that they are over 5/24 but have been able to get approved for Ink Cash and Ink Unlimited with 1 credit pull by using 2 different browsers to apply at the same time. Generally speaking, multiple applications made on the same calendar date only have 1 credit pull.
The Ink card family includes Ink Cash, Ink Unlimited, Ink Preferred, and Ink Premier. The welcome bonuses are all quite strong, and these cards can also offer solid long-term value.
