As a nearly ubiquitous drugstore chain, Rite Aid had been a very convenient place for manufactured spending, since it allowed Visa gift cards to be used to reload Serve. Unfortunately, that door has now closed again.

According to reports from helpful users on Reddit, Rite Aid has confirmed that all of its stores have hard-coded a restriction preventing debit cards from being used to reload Serve or other cards, so using Visa gift cards for these reloads is no longer possible. In addition, most Family Dollar stores also no longer allow non-cash Serve reloads, so Walmart remains the only reliable option left for most people (but not for reloading Vanilla Serve).
