Hilton has had a Chinese app available for quite a while, but it previously only supported cash bookings. Last year, there was also a long-running promotion in the Chinese app that awarded 2,000 points per booking.
Now, at a time when hotel occupancy in China has risen significantly, Hilton has finally added points redemptions to the Chinese app.
Hilton hotels in mainland China start at 10,000 points, and at the same award level they are also a much better deal than hotels in North America. When logging into the Chinese app to make a booking, just select the points redemption option.
At the same time, Hilton has also launched a WeChat membership card, which needs to be added through the Hilton mini program. The mini program does not currently support points redemptions. After following the WeChat mini program, look for this location:
Then you can generate a nice-looking WeChat membership card, though it is not especially useful. The card can be viewed under: “WeChat app — Me — Cards & offers”
For KUKU, the biggest benefit of award redemptions going live in the Chinese app is that points can now be transferred directly to parents in China, and they can book hotels themselves through the app.
