Last year, Target stopped allowing REDCard (affectionately known in the miles-and-points community as “Redbird”) to be loaded with a credit card directly at the Target register, closing off one of the easiest ways ever to meet minimum spending requirements on a new card. Today, AMEX sent an email to all Redbird cardholders confirming that this card will finally end its mission for good on March 21 this year.
AMEX Serve
Yes, we know it is still unclear how Serve can now be used to meet minimum spending requirements. But if you do not already have Serve, this is a good opportunity.
[Offer] Complete one $25 purchase by January 31 and receive a $25 Statement Credit
[Application Link] AMEX Serve
Note that this offer does not apply to OneVIP, even though that is widely considered the best Serve card for loading “birds.” Also, the link above does not show this $25 offer. Because this is a targeted offer, it is not yet clear whether AMEX will give the $25 credit to people who did not receive the offer email.
