TopCashback has teamed up with Raise again for another easy money deal. This time it's $20 + $20! Ends today (2/25).

[Update] A reader confirmed that using the $5 rewards from a new Raise account did not affect this offer, and the $20 has already gone pending.

Expired — now we wait to get paid.

Deal Overview

If you are a new TopCashback user, you can buy any merchant gift card priced at $20-$40 on Raise and receive a $20 cashback bonus. Keep in mind that Raise is a discounted gift card marketplace, so the face value of the gift card may be more than $40. As long as your out-of-pocket cost is between $20 and $40, it should qualify.

A few important details from the terms:

  • You must be a newly registered TopCashback user to qualify for this deal.
  • $20 will appear in your TopCashback account as cashback 21 days after the gift card purchase.
  • Your order must include only one gift card, and your out-of-pocket total must be between $20 and $40.
  • Existing Raise users can also participate. However, if your total purchase amount on Raise already exceeds $1,000, you will need to contact TopCashback customer service through the contact us page after purchasing through TCB in order to receive the $20.
  • Deadline: 11:59pm PT on Thursday, February 25, 2016
  • The terms do not say whether promo codes can be used on this Raise order. It is recommended that you purchase directly and do not use any promo code on Raise, including the new-user $5 off.

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, it is best to register for both Raise and TopCashback. If you use our referral links, you may also receive extra rewards:

  • TopCashback sign-up link
    • After receiving the $10 cashback, new users may also receive a $10 sign-up bonus (see notes below).
    • See TopCashback guide for details.
  • Raise sign-up link (using our referral link gives you $5 rewards)
    • Promo code: RAISE75AF for an additional $5 off (valid only on purchases of $75+)
    • After signing up, you may want to first make a small gift card purchase and use up the $5 rewards and promo code, so the rewards do not affect the TCB cashback offer. (I think the rewards probably will not matter, but it is safer to be cautious. A reader has confirmed that using the $5 rewards still resulted in the $20 going pending.)
    • Introduction to Raise, the gift card marketplace

Once you are registered, you can start this deal.

rt1
  • Click Get Cashback Now, then go to your newly registered Raise.com account and choose to buy a gift card.
rt2
  • Narrow the price range to $25-$50 (or click into a specific merchant and filter prices yourself).
rt3
  • Select the merchant gift card you want to buy. Most importantly, make sure you choose one gift card priced between $20 and $40. If you have $5 rewards, it is best to choose a gift card priced between $25 and $40.
rt4
  • Complete the purchase.
  • After 21 days, the $20 cashback should appear in your TopCashback account.

Example Math

Suppose you bought the Staples gift card shown above:

  • You pay $28
  • You get: $30 (gift card) + $20 (TCB and Raise deal) + $10 (TCB new user bonus) + $10 (Raise new user bonus)

Of course, there is some risk in stacking the Raise sign-up bonus with this deal. If you do not care about maximizing every dollar, using them separately is the safer option.

Things to Note

  • If you open too many TopCashback accounts, they may be shut down. Do not overdo it. If you really want to do this multiple times, consider using a different IP.
  • I have not personally tested the $10 TopCashback new user sign-up bonus. According to readers, it is an extra perk for registering through a referral link, but I did not see explicit language in the referral link stating that new users would definitely receive an extra $10. Either way, the $20 from Raise via this deal for new users should be real.
  • Is this deal trustworthy? Both TCB and Raise are generally decent companies. Most people should have received cashback from the previous TCB and GYFT deal as well (see here expired).
