Radpad just sent a mass email to all users saying it will discontinue all rent payment services, effective 10/13. That means the loophole of using Android Pay or Apple Pay to pay rent through Radpad and earn Sapphire Reserve/Citi Prestige 3x points is now dead, dead, dead...
Original email from Radpad
We wanted to let you know that effective Thursday, October 13, 2016, we will no longer be processing and paying rent paymentsSimply put, all rent payments have already been stopped, and any scheduled future payments will not be processed. Radpad did not explain why it is shutting down this line of business.As a current RadPad rent payer, RadPad will no longer be making rent payments for you. Effective immediately, you will need to find an alternative for making your rent payments. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you。
Plastiq promotion
Radpad’s longtime competitor in the rent payment space, Plastiq (thanks if you sign up through our link), is taking advantage of Radpad’s exit by rolling out discounted fees. This time, not only do Mastercard payments qualify for a 1.75% fee, but AMEX cards also get a reduced fee of 2.25%. If you have a 2% cashback Mastercard, then using Plastiq to pay rent is probably your best option right now. Promotion details (official Plastiq blog post):- Use a Mastercard or AMEX card to schedule 6 or more bill payments by 10/31 23:59 PT (they can be canceled);
- The bill category must be rent or mortgage;
- There is no time limit, so you can schedule payments years into the future all at once.
If you have the Citi AT&T Access More credit card, it may be possible to earn 3x ThankYou Point with Plastiq (we recommend doing a small test first). Even if you have to pay a 2% fee, the points you earn can still be worth more than the fee you pay. Have you used Plastiq? Come share your experience.
