You can now convert Qatar Airways miles to BA miles. The steps are to transfer first to Avios, then move your Avios into your BA account. If you’re unsure, the post below has a detailed step-by-step guide.
According to Qatar Airways’ official announcement, they are moving to Avios as their frequent-flyer currency, and current Qmiles will convert to Avios at a 1:1 ratio. At the moment, Avios is a shared currency used by British Airways (BA), Aer Lingus (EI), and Iberia (IB), and points can be transferred between these airlines through Avios to book awards on each program. With Qatar added, the alliance is even bigger.
Qatar Airways’ award chart is reportedly unchanged.
Also, if you sign up for a Qatar Airways frequent flyer account now, you can get 2,000 miles for free, as long as you complete registration by March 31. If you also fly, you can earn up to an additional 7,500 miles. After converting to Avios at 1:1, you can use them together with the miles you’ve already accumulated to book tickets—pretty good value.
It seems that using promo code FLYQR3 can get you 2,500 miles. You can try it too.
