【Update】According to a DP from KUKU, using AMEX for payment now requires adding the cardholder’s tax ID (SSN/ITIN or EIN supported). At the moment, this requirement appears to apply only to AMEX credit cards. Submitting a tax ID likely means you have spent enough that you may need to deal with tax reporting. 
According to DOC and reader reports, Plastiq will no longer support payments made with AMEX credit cards, and all AMEX credit cards currently added to accounts will be removed on February 10. It is still unclear whether this is a permanent change or just a temporary system issue. Since Plastiq has been a great way to meet welcome bonus spending requirements and pay taxes, this move is definitely disappointing.
Below is the email a reader received after setting up recurring payments with an AMEX card:
“Due to operational issues, Plastiq will no longer accept American Express. Any AMEX cards currently added to your Plastiq wallet will be removed and processing for AMEX will end, effective February 10, 2023.”
I did not receive this email myself. I also tested it in my account, and it seems AMEX payments are still going through without any issue. If you have any bills you need to pay with AMEX, it may be a good idea to complete those payments today so you do not miss the window.
