About the Plaid Class Action

Because of historical reasons in the U.S. banking system, linking a bank account has traditionally required a slow ACH verification transaction. In recent years, many financial websites and apps have started using Plaid to link bank accounts. You simply enter your bank account credentials on Plaid’s page to connect your account. Plaid was sued in 2021, and the class plaintiffs alleged that Plaid misled users into thinking Plaid’s login interface belonged to their bank. Plaid denies wrongdoing, but it agreed to a settlement. Any user who used Plaid can submit a claim form and share in the $5,800,000 settlement fund provided by Plaid.

Am I Eligible?

If you meet the following conditions:

  • You are a U.S. resident
  • You used Plaid to connect any financial account between January 1, 2013 and November 19, 2021

then you may be part of this class action and settlement.

How to File a Claim

Click this link to fill out the claim form online. You will need to provide:

  • The bank account you linked
  • The approximate date you linked it
  • Which service (website or app) you used to link it

There is also a website here where you can search a list of apps/websites that use Plaid, including common ones like Robinhood and Google Pay.

Although you can list up to 8 entries, the payment amount is the same no matter how many you submit. So there’s no need to spend too much time digging up every account.

Will all Class Members who file claims receive the same amount?
Yes.
