This feature is pretty interesting. You can think of it as an interest-free installment plan: split a purchase into four payments, and you can choose a different card for each payment. That means it can be used to complete spending across multiple cards for the AMEX Platinum card benefit. HT: 罐哥。

- Official introduction to PayPal Pay in 4
- Eligible amount: Pay in 4 is available upon approval for purchases of $30 - $600. Before splitting, the amount must be at least $30, so triggering the Platinum card credit should not be a problem.
- Installment timing: At the moment, it only supports one payment every 2 weeks. That 2-week schedule is just the latest due date, though, and you can ignore it by paying off the split payments the same day.
- Where to use it: You should see it during PayPal checkout, as shown below:
- Who can use it: Pay in 4 is not currently available to residents of New Mexico, North Dakota, South Dakota, Missouri, Wisconsin, or any U.S. territories. Aside from those locations, it is available in the U.S.
- Merchant coverage: Many online merchants support it, such as Best Buy and Target.
- Recommended use: Split a $120 purchase into four payments, then pay all four the same day using four different cards.
- Other notes: No interest, no hard pull on your credit report, but there is a late fee if you miss a payment.
- After making the first payment, you can immediately make the second, third, and fourth payments as well.
- Commentary: Very flexible and especially useful for maximizing PayPal credits.
Example uses:
- If you have two Platinum cards, buy a $120 item and split it into four payments. Use two cards each month.
- If you have four Platinum cards, buy a $120 item and split it into four payments. Then charge all four at once.
