Osaka Kansai International Airport (KIX), Osaka’s main airport, sits on an artificial island far to the south of the city. Since I was on Cathay business class, I ended up stopping by Lounge Pacific today. This is a Cathay Pacific partner lounge. Because Cathay has only a limited number of flights out of KIX, this lounge is not very large. It also serves several other Oneworld member airlines.
Lounge Pacific is in the international departures area of the airport’s north wing. The south and north wings are linked by an automated train, but the distance is still far. The lounge is open from 7:00 a.m. until the departure of the last flight of the day.
Who Can Enter Lounge Pacific?
It’s a OneWorld lounge; if you’re flying in Cathay first class, business class, or are a OneWorld Sapphire or Emerald elite member, you can enter this lounge. I walked in with the lounge invitation card Cathay gave me.
The Lounge Feel
The first impression was this: how can it be this small? I could count every seat with my own eyes. One A330’s worth of first- and business-class passengers would fill it almost completely.

Food and Beverage
With a lounge this small, expectations for food naturally drop a lot. Still, the food and drinks were actually better than many lounges in the U.S. A few bottles of alcohol were piled on a small wooden cart for self-service.
The beverage station looked fairly fancy, but the selection was similar: mostly Coca-Cola soft drinks and water. There was also a coffee station.
It also offered assorted breads, cakes, and light snacks.
After tasting just two bites, it seemed average. If you don’t expect too much, you won’t be disappointed.
Other Amenities
Nope, that’s it. Other than one restroom, there wasn’t anything else in this lounge. In fact, this is exactly how tiny it is. There is Wi-Fi in the lounge, but the speed (painfully slow) made it unsuitable for staying long.
I arrived at the airport relatively late, and this lounge was quite a distance from the gate (about a 5-minute walk with no moving walkway), so I didn’t linger there long. That actually felt like the right call. Food and drink were not especially plentiful, and the internet speed was just okay. If you’re short on time, it may be best to skip it. If you have plenty of time, I recommend the other side (south wing): JAL Sakura Lounge.
