About This Lawsuit
MGM Resorts has agreed to a $45 million settlement over two data breach incidents. The first incident occurred around July 2019, and the second occurred around September 2023. The breaches involved various types of private information belonging to MGM customers and guests, including but not limited to names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, military ID numbers, passport numbers, and Social Security numbers. It is worth noting that only some users had their Social Security numbers, passport numbers, and driver’s license numbers exposed.
Compensation Amounts
If you are included in the settlement class, you may be eligible for the following compensation:
- Cash Payment for Direct Losses: If you suffered up to $15,000 in financial losses because of the data breach, you may submit a valid claim form with supporting documentation.
- Tiered Cash Payments: Certain settlement class members may also qualify for a fixed cash payment without providing any documentation. The amount depends on what personal information of yours was exposed in the data breach. A timely and valid claim form is required.
- Tier 1 Cash Payment: If your Social Security number or military ID number was exposed, you may be eligible for an estimated fixed cash payment of $75.
- Tier 2 Cash Payment: If your passport number or driver’s license number was exposed, you may be eligible for an estimated fixed cash payment of $50.
- Tier 3 Cash Payment: If your name, address, or date of birth was exposed, you may be eligible for an estimated fixed cash payment of $20.
In addition, as long as you received the email, you can get one year of free credit monitoring.
All Settlement Class Members are eligible to file a Claim for Financial Account Monitoring and a Documented Loss Cash Payment, but not every Settlement Class Member is eligible to file a Claim for a Tiered Cash Payment.
How to Claim
If you are eligible, you should have already received an email containing the PIN needed to submit a claim. Don’t miss this opportunity to protect your rights!
