Marriott Bonvoy recently announced that its independently operated gift card management website, gifts.marriott.com, will officially shut down on February 25, 2026. After that, Marriott Bonvoy members will need to use the official Marriott app to check gift card balances. Marriott Bonvoy gift cards have long been criticized for having a cumbersome redemption process: hotel front desks must process them through a separate gift card system, and they are not integrated into the normal payment flow, making them inconvenient to use. Hopefully, once they are integrated into the mobile app, the gift card amount will be automatically deducted at checkout.
