This is the second post in my Jamaica trip series, focusing on the various restaurants at the hotel. Please do not read this late at night.

At lunch, relatively few restaurants were open, basically just a few along the waterfront, and the food was fairly average. Several of the more distinctive restaurants only opened at night, and they occasionally took days off.

DI ROZA

This is an Italian restaurant. The pasta, pizza, and various meat dishes were all quite good.

Petit Pariz

This is a French restaurant. The appetizers were not very good—definitely do not order the chicken liver (I was expecting something closer to foie gras). The main courses were all pretty solid.

Brazil

This is a Brazilian churrascaria buffet. Maybe because I had just eaten at Fogo de Chao before going to Jamaica, but the difference in taste felt pretty significant.

Fuzion

This is an Asian restaurant with both Chinese dishes and Japanese teppanyaki.

Urban Heat

This one serves creative cuisine.

Horizons

This one falls under International Cuisine, basically a mixed bag, and the food was fairly average.

Calypzo

A seafood-focused restaurant by the beach. The Seafood Salad was extremely, extremely good, and it was a great lunch option.

Barefoot Jerkz

This one is right by the Ziva pool and serves Jamaican smoked barbecue all day, with both chicken and pork options. The sauces were excellent.

ChoiceZ

This is a buffet restaurant serving breakfast. There was a wide variety, but the taste was just so-so, and there was a lot of fruit. On the weekend, they also put together a large outdoor buffet.

Other

Besides the restaurants, there were also many bars, a cafe, and a dessert shop.

Summary

Compared with Hyatt Ziva Cancun, the food quality felt about the same, but there were even more options here—I stayed 5 days and still didn’t try everything. The seawater wasn’t as clean as at Ziva Cancun, but there was more to do in the pools. Overall, if you can use a 500-250 deal, the value is excellent.
