Google Photos was hit with a class action lawsuit for allegedly violating Illinois privacy laws related to personal information (Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act, 740 ILCS 14/1, et seq.). Under the settlement, a total of 100,000,000 will be paid out, with each claim expected to receive about $200-$400.

If you appeared in Google Photos between May 1, 2015 and April 25, 2022, and you were an Illinois resident at the time, you may be eligible for compensation. Note that you do not need to have used Google Photos yourself—you only need to have appeared in a photo.

The filing deadline is September 24, 2022, so don’t miss it.
