IHG has launched a new status challenge. After registering, you can receive Platinum status for 120 days right away. If you complete 5 qualifying nights during that period, you can keep Platinum status through December 2023. If you complete a total of 15 nights, you can earn Diamond status through the end of 2023. IHG elite status is not especially strong when it comes to room upgrades, but the most useful Diamond benefit is probably the free breakfast. If you already have upcoming stays, this challenge may be worth registering for. Also, having IHG Diamond may let you match to elite status with other hotel programs, so it is worth considering.
