IHG has finally abandoned the 4-digit password. You can now reset it and set a new one, so you’re no longer stuck with an easily compromised 4-digit code. H/T: TPG

This 4-digit numeric password surviving this long in the age of information technology is hard to believe. It has spawned plenty of account-hacking and account-selling rings (and after users discover their accounts were stolen, IHG still compensates points). It’s hard to believe IHG tolerated this for so long.

Please change your password as soon as possible.

  • Existing users can request a password reset (path: My Account——Personal infomation——Account information——Password——Edit)
  • New users registering now must use a more secure combination password
  • New password requirements: at least 8 characters and a combination of at least three of the following: uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, or special characters
Please select a password of at least eight characters, including at least three of the following: capital letter, lowercase letter, number, special character.

Note: After changing your password, the WeChat IHG Mini Program does not require re-verification. IHG is still very useful in China, especially with the weekend member promo: Spire Elite. See below:
