InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) announced that it has entered into a new long-term agreement with JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. (Chase) to continue offering IHG One Rewards co-branded credit cards in the U.S. through 2036.
These agreements are effective immediately and will run through 2036. IHG expects marketing fees under the new agreement to increase significantly, driven by member and brand usage benefits such as access, point earning, free-night certificates, and expanded marketing efforts. The newly extended partnership is expected to raise the 2023 expense level of $39 million to double by 2025 and triple by 2028. IHG expects to receive $137 million in pre-tax cash income.
IHG One Rewards membership is projected to reach 145 million globally by the end of 2024, up 10% from 2023. Member-paid stays are expected to account for more than 60% of global room nights, with the Americas near 70%. Point-based award stay redemptions are expected to grow 15% year over year.
Needless to say, IHG credit cards offer strong value, and the benefits have remained consistently stable.
