According to Hyatt’s official website, hotel award categories will be adjusted in 2022. Overall, these updates usually mean a slight devaluation of points, but this round does not make any especially major changes. One thing to keep in mind: if a hotel you booked moves down in category, remember to cancel and rebook; if it moves up, just be careful before canceling.
Here are the key changes:
- 9 Hyatt properties are moving up to Category 8, requiring 40,000 points per award night (previously Category 7 required only 30,000 points, so this is a fairly significant devaluation)
- 70 properties are moving up a category, while 76 are moving down (as usual, the popular ones go up and the less popular ones go down)
