Recently, Hyatt announced plans to acquire Playa Hotels & Resorts for $13.50 per share, valuing the transaction at about $2.6 billion. This is not the first time Hyatt and Playa have worked together. Back in 2013, Hyatt invested in Playa, helping launch the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands. These properties may eventually be converted under Hyatt’s own brands, which would hopefully mean more great all-inclusive resorts in the future!

Playa Hotels & Resorts’ current properties include:

  • Dominican Republic:
    • Hilton La Romana
    • Hilton La Romana Adult Resort
    • Hyatt Zilara Cap Cana Adult Resort
    • Hyatt Ziva Cap Cana
    • Sanctuary Cap Cana, a Luxury Collection Resort
    • Wyndham Alltra Punta Cana
    • Wyndham Alltra Samana
  • Jamaica:
    • Hilton Rose Hall
    • Hyatt Zilara Rose Hall Adult Resort
    • Hyatt Ziva Rose Hall
    • Jewel Grande
  • Mexico:
    • Hilton Playa Del Carmen Adult Resort
    • Hyatt Zilara Cancun Adult Resort
    • Hyatt Ziva Cancun
    • Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos
    • Hyatt Ziva Puerto Vallarta
    • Kimpton Tres Rios
    • Paraiso de la Bonita Luxury Collection Resort
    • Seadust Cancun Family Resort
    • Turquoize Cancun
    • Wyndham Alltra Cancun
    • Wyndham Alltra Playa Del Carmen, Adults Only
    • Wyndham Alltra Vallarta

All of Playa Hotels & Resorts’ properties are currently owner-operated. Hyatt plans to sell these real estate assets while retaining management of the properties, and hopes to generate $2 billion in proceeds. However, given the existing agreements, Hyatt may need to continue operating some of these properties under the Wyndham and Hilton flags until those contracts expire.
