After Hilton quietly raised the standard room redemption cap at Waldorf Astoria Maldives Ithaafushi to 120,000 points back in February this year—and claimed there would never be a second one...—Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos has now also shown a 120,000-point standard room redemption rate, H/T: View From The Wing. Hilton and Delta have always been pioneers when it comes to making points less valuable, so a silent change like this isn’t all that surprising. During the last loyalty program overhaul, Hilton had already “solemnly promised” that standard room redemptions would never exceed 95K. Yeah, right.
KUKU specifically checked the official website, and sure enough, the Standard Room redemption rate has gone up to 120K.
At the moment, PointsExplorer still doesn’t show the 120,000-point redemption for Waldorf Astoria Los Cabos; it only lists the Maldives Waldorf Astoria for now. But it will probably be added soon.
As the saying goes, once there’s a first time, there will be a second—and then more. The only upside is that Hilton weekend FN now has another good use case (at least as a bit of psychological comfort: getting a free night at a 120,000-point hotel).
