About Conrad Osaka

Every guest room and public area at this charming Osaka hotel offers beautiful city views. Conrad Osaka is located in the Festival Tower in Nakanoshima, an area known for its eclectic art museums and concert halls. The hotel is within easy reach of Umeda and Namba, so guests can really feel the energy of Osaka here. Conrad Osaka also offers beautiful river views and a great look at the Osaka skyline. The stylish lobby and restaurants are located on the 40th floor of Festival Tower. The hotel also has guest rooms, a wedding chapel, banquet halls, a fitness center, and a spa.

The location of Conrad Osaka is also very good. Watanabebashi Station is the closest, while Higobashi is a little farther away. Since the hotel sits on the island in the middle, you really get great views in every direction.

Coming straight from Kyoto’s traditional Japanese atmosphere into a huge city like Osaka was still pretty striking. It almost felt like stepping into another world.

Booking

I checked and found that this hotel did not have an FHR stay-2-get-1-free benefit, only 25% off the standard rate. Since I prefer not to pay cash when I don’t have to, I booked directly with points plus a free night certificate. The cash rate here was only so-so anyway (it was $500 when I checked), so I still used a certificate and points for two nights. Also, since we were both Hilton Diamond and would get breakfast and lounge access anyway, there wasn’t much reason to use FHR.

75,000 points per night was a pretty good deal. During peak season or close-in dates, it can cost 100,000-110,000 points.

Hotel Lobby

Unlike the more understated feel of Conrad Tokyo, Conrad Osaka felt futuristic to me. The lobby is on the top floor of the building, the 40th floor, while the guest rooms are below it. So to get to your room, you first take the elevator up to 40, then head back down.

Overall, the lobby paired with the nighttime views through the floor-to-ceiling windows all around was absolutely magical.

This whole row of little bears nearby was pretty cute too.

The banquet hall on the 39th floor is especially good for photos, so it’s worth stopping by if you have time.

Stay Experience

Room

Conrad Osaka had one of the biggest rooms among the Conrad properties I’ve stayed at, and the night view was fantastic.

The room really was very spacious—almost twice the size of the room at Conrad Tokyo, in my opinion.

The city lights were brilliant and the whole area felt very lively.

Bathroom

This round bathtub was large and very comfortable.

Breakfast

While breakfast at Conrad Osaka wasn’t the most elaborate, it was probably the tastiest. Breakfast was served as one made-to-order entrée per person plus a buffet.

One thing worth mentioning is that the place setting here was the most complete.

Everything looked great, and they all came with eggs.

There were also chef-recommended noodles.

Matcha coffee was a signature drink.

The fried noodles were very good.

The salmon was decent.

The best item of all was this one—probably slow-roasted beef—and it was really delicious.

This was the only hotel breakfast that offered hot sauce, and it tasted good with basically everything.

You could also enjoy breakfast while taking in the view, and the scenery here really was excellent.

Lounge

I forgot to take photos of the lounge at Conrad Tokyo before, but I did get some of the lounge in Osaka. One downside of the Osaka lounge is that children are not allowed in after 4 pm.

This salmon salad was pretty good.

The bread selection was pretty standard.

Some hot dishes too—fine if you just want something filling.

The drinks all came in glass bottles, which was annoying since you couldn’t take them to go.

Some alcohol as well—probably the reason kids aren’t allowed in.

Bottom Line

Of the four hotels I stayed at in Japan, Conrad Osaka was probably the most comfortable overall. The room was large, breakfast tasted great, the night views and scenery were excellent, and the lobby was also perfect for photos. I’d gladly stay here again next time.
