Beef in the U.S. has gotten ridiculously expensive lately. Two random packs at Costco can easily come close to $100. I was already planning to eat less beef, but today I saw a Good Chop Flash Deal that, when stacked with Rakuten and an AMEX Offer, can get you very close to a free order—and new users can even come out ahead.

How do you stack the deals?

First, sign up for Rakuten through the link below. New users can also earn an extra $50 or 5,000 MR after meeting the required spending amount; readers who already have Rakuten can just log in.

Second, search for Good Chop inside Rakuten, confirm that the page shows $63 cash back or 6,300 MR, then click Shop Now to go to the official site.

Third, open your AMEX card and check AMEX Offer to see whether you have the Good Chop offer: 20% back, up to $65. It is fairly common on some AMEX Platinum and Hilton Aspire cards. Make sure to add it to your card first, or missing out on more than $20 in cash back will really sting.

Fourth, after you are redirected from Rakuten to Good Chop, click the deal entry on the homepage and choose 6 types of meat. In my test, the checkout total came to about $108 after shipping, and I paid with the AMEX card that already had the offer added.

Five minutes later, it showed up on Rakuten.

How much do you save in the end?

  • Good Chop order: about $108;
  • Rakuten cash back: $63 or 6,300 MR;
  • AMEX Offer: about $22 back;

By that math, existing Rakuten users only spend a little over $20 and still get a whole box of meat.

If you are a new Rakuten user and stack the $50 or 5,000 MR sign-up bonus on top, this is basically free—or even a money-maker. If you can use MR for flights, 11,300 MR is definitely worth more than $113 to me, so this deal is way better than Costco.

As someone who has grilled beef for years and made countless mistakes, these are the three cuts I recommend most:

  • Top Sirloin: my first choice, strong beef flavor, and not easy to overcook;
  • Tri-Tip: great for grilling whole, and it also tastes great sliced for sandwiches;
  • Ranch Steak: good value, great for slicing after pan-searing or for stir-fried beef.

They also have chicken and seafood, which you can mix in as well. Just be careful at checkout: some premium cuts may cost extra. Otherwise, while you are clicking around, your free order can accidentally turn into a deluxe package.

One last reminder: Good Chop is a subscription service. After your first box arrives, if you do not plan to keep buying, remember to cancel or skip the next delivery in time. I already set a reminder on my phone, because once the fridge is stuffed with beef, it is really easy to completely forget about the subscription.
