Spirit Airlines Class Action Settlement: $8,250,000 Total Payout

If you booked a Spirit Airlines flight through Expedia, Kiwi, CheapOair, CheapTickets, Travelocity, or Bookit between August 31, 2011 and May 3, 2017, paid a carry-on bag fee, and this was your first Spirit Airlines flight after August 1, 2010, you may be eligible for a share of the $8.25 million Spirit Airlines class action settlement.

In August 2017, Spirit Airlines faced a class action lawsuit. The plaintiffs alleged that they entered into contracts with Spirit Airlines through online travel agencies to travel as passengers on flights operated by Spirit Airlines. They claimed that the ticket price they paid included the right to bring a carry-on bag for free. The plaintiffs further alleged that Spirit Airlines breached the contract by later requiring them to pay a carry-on bag fee. Spirit Airlines denied the allegations, but agreed to a settlement.
