Frontier Airlines has extended an olive branch to Southwest Airlines members who are disappointed with recent changes with a new offer.
This time, Frontier is not doing a traditional “status match.” Instead, it is allowing any Southwest Rapid Rewards member to purchase Frontier Elite Gold Status for $40. That’s right—even basic Southwest members can do it.
There is one key condition, though: you must have become a Southwest Rapid Rewards member by April 16, 2025 (this may not necessarily be enforced). Once purchased and approved, these Rapid Rewards members will have Elite Gold Status through December 31, 2025.
Elite Gold status benefits include:
- Priority customer service live chat.
- Members and up to eight other passengers on the same booking can cancel without fees; changes must be made more than 7 days before departure. Trip changes may result in differences in fare and fees.
- Family pooling option.
- Members only: standard or priority seat assignment at booking, subject to availability.
- Members only: advanced or priority seat assignment during check-in, subject to availability.
- Members and up to eight other passengers on the same booking can access Zone 2 boarding.
- Members can access Zone 1 boarding.
- Members only: one carry-on bag.
- 40% miles/points bonus on eligible spending on Flyfrontier.com, but this bonus does not apply to miles earned through the Frontier Airlines World Mastercard.
- Upgrade to UpFront Plus ™ seat assignment up to 4 hours before departure, members only, subject to availability.
