About This Status Match
Flying Blue has long offered a status match, but US residents were previously excluded. Recently, they started allowing US residents to apply again. A successful match grants 12 months of Flying Blue status.
However, US residents can only match up to Gold. In addition to holding elite status with another airline, matching to Silver costs $99, and Gold costs $299. Note that using a VPN or changing your IP address will not work.
The rules for other countries are shown below.
Note that pretending to register an account in another country or using an IP address from another country will not help. The match requires you to provide a passport or driver’s license.
Members must have qualifying status with an eligible airline and hold an identity document such as a passport or drivers licence which may be required as part of the application process.

The benefits of elite status on Flying Blue flights are shown below. In addition, Flying Blue is a member of SkyTeam, and its elite tiers come with corresponding SkyTeam elite benefits:
- Flying Blue Silver=SkyTeam Elite
- Flying Blue Gold=SkyTeam Elite Plus
For example, Elite Plus members can access partner lounges and get free checked baggage when flying on alliance flights.
