Japan Airlines (JAL) and Marriott Bonvoy have officially launched a strategic partnership. Once members link their accounts in both programs, they can not only match elite status, but Marriott members can also receive JAL FLY ON Points every year for free. The promotion opened on July 14, 2026, and members worldwide are eligible to participate.

JAL FLY ON Points available to Marriott members:

  • • Member: 2,000 FLY ON Points per year
  • • Silver Elite: 5,000 FLY ON Points per year
  • • Gold Elite: 10,000 FLY ON Points per year
  • • Platinum Elite: 20,000 FLY ON Points per year
  • • Titanium Elite: 30,000 FLY ON Points per year
  • • Ambassador Elite: 40,000 FLY ON Points per year

Marriott Titanium and Ambassador members can also directly earn JAL Crystal or a higher status level based on the FLY ON Points they earn and accumulate. Once the accounts are successfully linked, the relevant points and status usually post within 6 weeks; starting in the second year, they are automatically granted every spring.

JAL members can also match to Marriott status:

• JMB Member: stay 6 nights within 6 months after linking and receive Marriott Silver Elite
• JAL Crystal: stay 4 nights within 6 months and receive Marriott Silver Elite
• JAL Sapphire: receive Marriott Silver Elite immediately; stay 10 nights within 6 months to upgrade to Gold Elite
• JGC Premier: receive Marriott Gold Elite immediately; stay 16 nights within 6 months to earn an additional 10,000 Marriott points
• JAL Diamond: receive Marriott Gold Elite immediately; stay 10 nights within the first 6 months of the first year to upgrade to Platinum Elite, and stay 16 nights to receive 15,000 Marriott points
• JAL Diamond Metal: receive Marriott Gold Elite immediately; stay 10 nights within 6 months to upgrade to Platinum Elite, and stay 16 nights to receive 15,000 Marriott points

Marriott status earned through the match is valid for at least 12 months. Note that the challenge nights must be actual stays at eligible rates; Elite Night Credits earned through credit cards, promotions, or other channels do not count toward the stay requirement.

To take part, you need to be enrolled in both JAL Mileage Bank and Marriott Bonvoy, and both accounts must belong to the same person. Benefits are determined by the membership tier on the day the accounts are linked; even if your status changes later that year, it will not affect the benefits already locked in.

For Marriott Platinum, Titanium, and Ambassador members, this partnership is a very attractive deal. In particular, Titanium members can receive 30,000 FLY ON Points each year after linking accounts, which is already an important threshold toward JAL Crystal status. However, FLY ON Points are mainly used to earn annual JAL elite status and do not mean you can permanently join JAL Global Club.
