A few days ago, I saw a post on FeiCha: United Airlines (UA) miles can now be redeemed with Citic Bank points. UA miles were already earning through certain shopping and spending in mainland China, but seeing bank points available for redemption is still somewhat unexpected. The redemption requirement is somewhat high, but for people in mainland China this number of points is not too hard to meet. It’s unclear whether UA will expand partnerships with more mainland banks; if it does, that could affect the value of UA miles to some extent. Image from FeiCha.
- Since UA miles never expire, if you have spare Citic Bank points, it doesn’t hurt to convert a small amount into UA miles.
