About FactCoupon

FatCoupon is a shopping-tech startup based in Tualatin, near Portland, Oregon, USA. It also has offices or workstations in Shanghai, San Francisco, California, and Vancouver, Washington. In addition to helping users save money and earn merchant cashback, FatCoupon also aims to help merchants and partners improve conversion and order notifications.

I first came across FatCoupon in 2020, and it made quite an impression on me. FatCoupon is leading a new shopping model that is especially suitable for large agents and bulk buyers, because that party can use FatCoupon to share merchant cashback with buyers, creating a “four-way win.”

FatCoupon can be used on PC, in the app, and through the Chrome extension. Each has its own strengths, and I recommend trying all of them. Here is a quick overview:

  • PC: regular shopping, freebie deals, hot deal recommendations, and tasks
  • App: customizable Deal Alerts, generally very accurate (which also means alerts can be very frequent)
  • Chrome extension: aggressively scans for all available codes, including FatCoupon’s own codes (more below)
  • All cashback can be stacked, and some merchants can yield very large discounts, such as Dell and HP

Basic Cashback

The core feature, of course, is merchant cashback. FatCoupon offers cashback at most merchants supported by other shopping portals; you can compare rates on CashBackMonitor. It also offers cashback at some less common merchants, and sometimes the rate is the highest available in real time. Explore based on your own needs. The author uses it most often for merchants such as eBay, Dell, and Walmart.

Chrome Extension

FatCoupon offers a Chrome extension, and I personally recommend installing it. It can reduce the chance of missed tracking, and tracking seems more reliable once the extension is enabled. Another powerful feature is that it scans all available codes and applies the one with the best discount for you.

They offer a $10 bonus (10,000 coins) for first-time extension activation. If you see $15, that includes the $5 sign-up bonus.

After installing it, remember to sign out and sign back in, and then you should see the bonus. When I registered, it was $10, and the reward showed up in my account right away after signing out and back in. Of that amount, $5 was the sign-up bonus, 100 coins were a login reward, and the rest was the extension bonus.

The extension is pretty pleasant to use. You can see your name, account balance, and the current best promotion, such as the MAC free lipstick offer.

Extra First-Order Cashback and Exclusive Codes

FatCoupon offers at least two kinds of codes:

  • An extra 10% cashback on your first order, up to $15 off, for most merchants that offer cashback. In practice, this is a 10% off code provided by the merchant for FatCoupon promotion.
  • Shopping codes that vary by merchant. Some are 10% off (Dell, no cap), while others are $20 off (such as HP).

Because these codes get scanned and used heavily, supply often cannot keep up with demand. If that happens, you can contact FatCoupon customer service, and they may be able to provide a code directly. If you buy in volume, this can be very powerful.

The author and many other users most often use Dell and HP codes. This discount is one of those things you have to try to appreciate. With Dell in particular, note that there is no cap, so you can potentially get:

  • Part 1: 10% off on a first order for new users, up to $15 off
  • Part 2: a code scanned by the Chrome extension (apparently exclusive to FTC), 10% off with no cap
  • Part 3: Dell’s own cashback, 3.2%
  • In other words, even before the cashback posts, the purchase price is already discounted multiple times over

If you have high volume needs, try contacting FatCoupon customer service. They may be able to provide additional useful codes, though of course the purchase must go through FatCoupon. Overall, the math can be very favorable. The example below is HP’s $20 off code, also a unique code obtained through the Chrome extension, and it can be stacked with other cashback and promotions.

Daily Tasks and Recommendations

This feature feels a bit more China-style: you can check in daily and complete tasks to earn some coin rewards. It is easy enough to tap through when using the site each day.

Deal Alert Feature (App)

FatCoupon offers Deal Alerts, which you can set up in its app. It supports one-click affiliate-link conversion settings. For regular users, it currently supports only Walmart and Best Buy. If you need other merchants, you may be able to contact customer service and ask them to add them. For now, this feature is fairly effective and is useful for jumping on good deals.

Once configured, it will send email alerts. Note that these alerts can be extremely frequent, so it is best to subscribe with a non-work email address. Turn it on when needed and keep it off otherwise.

Cashing Out

Cashback is issued in the form of coins. It may take up to 7 days to appear in your account, and then there is also a pending period before cash-out. It may take about 3 months before you can actually withdraw.

Coins can be redeemed for cash or gift cards. The minimum redemption is $50.

Considering the sign-up bonus, Chrome extension bonus, and daily small tasks, reaching $50 is not difficult.
