About the Facebook Class Action Settlement
Meta, Facebook’s parent company, has agreed to settle a class action lawsuit alleging that it shared users’ friends’ information with third parties without user consent. Meta Platforms Inc. will provide $725 million in compensation to eligible U.S. Facebook users, while not admitting any wrongdoing.
Eligibility
The class covered by this lawsuit includes people who:
- Were Facebook users and lived in the United States at any time between May 24, 2007 and December 22, 2022, inclusive
- Are not employees, directors, or legal representatives of Meta or its affiliates, other persons associated with plaintiffs’ counsel, or the mediator or court staff involved in this legal proceeding
Important Dates
If you want to receive compensation, you need to submit a claim form by August 25, 2023. If you object to the settlement or want to exclude yourself from the lawsuit, you must do so by July 26, 2023.
